Things to do in Weymouth

Weymouth - A great place to holiday

There are many great things to do in and around Weymouth, both on and off the water.

On the water

There are so many ways to get out onto the water, including boat and RIB rides, fishing trips, jet ski tours, sailing, and private yacht charters.

Around the harbour

The harbour is a lovely place to stroll around. On both sides of the water, you will find some great places to eat. The George on the town side and the Red Lion on the other side of the harbour are both popular with Family Brod.

Food and Drink

Moving away from the harbour, you will find that Weymouth has many great places to eat, catering for every taste and budget. There are of course two Wetherspoon's in town, where my guilty pleasure is a fried buttermilk chicken burger. If you are in the mood for something a bit more formal (and Italian), give Enzo a look; it's halfway along the seafront.

Clubs

Weymouth boasts some great clubs. If you are a visiting yachtsman, have a pint at the Royal Dorset Yacht Club or the Weymouth Sailing Club. If you are making Weymouth your home, popular sports and social clubs to try include the Rowing Club, the Bustins Skins Triathlon Club, and the St Paul's Harriers running club.

Swimming

Being at the coast, swimming is obviously one of the most popular pastimes in Weymouth. You are spoiled for choice for places to take a dip. There is the obvious sandy beach, but for the more adventurous, try Newton's Cove, Castle Cove, and Sandsfoot Beach.

Attractions

If the weather is not great in Weymouth, there are still plenty of things to do. The Nothe Fort is fun for the kids and interesting for geeky parents like myself. I especially like the cold war nuclear fallout bunker. Along the front, the Weymouth Sea Life Centre is a must on your to-do list. I would also encourage you to pay my mate Darren a visit; he runs the crazy golf next door, which is always worth a giggle for the whole family.
